I slept well despite the nearby highway. I continue my journey at 7am, mostly along the B3 highway. But the bike paths are built well and often go away from the street. There are many nice buildings on the way. I notice that smaller villages often have pompous churches. But even the town halls look very fancy. I do not particularly enjoy riding through cities like Offenburg or Bruchsal. One has to wait for ages at the stop lights, and the traffic is so heavy that I am unable to cross the street without a traffic light. The view of the green outskirts of the cities makes up for it. The landscape of The Northern Black Forest Region is also very nice. In Ettlingen I help myself to some ice cream again just as on the way here. From here the route is the same as the one I came on, just in the opposite direction. Fresh fruit is often sold on the side of the street. I could not help but buy cherries, and they were really delicious. It is not as warm today as it was yesterday, just around 21°C. Unfortunately I have a strong headwind for most of the day, but I do not have to go very fast anyway. I finally arrive at Konrad and Brunhilde's house in Sandhausen, where they greet me warmly and host me. Early tomorrow I will ride further along the way that I came on the way here. After two more nights in the tent I will reach home. I am excited about that. |
