20.06.2022, 5. day, 126 / 513 km, Kehl

After our hosts feed us an amazing breakfast, we head to Aldi to get some beverages to stay hydrated on the way; about four liters for each of us.
It is not as hot today as it was yesterday, which is a relief. We have a headwind at first, but it changes over time until it becomes a tailwind. It makes the journey much easier!
Unfortunately our path is often very close to a busy street with lots of trucks. The traffic noise becomes pretty annoying after some time, and we are happy that the bike path moves a bit away from the street eventually.
We find a great ice cream shop in Ettlingen. However, after that we have to fight the fatigue caused by the warm sun.
We finally arrive at the Rhine River again. It runs between dams and is higher above ground than the land around it. It is unthinkable to imagine what will happen if the dam breaks.
The campground in Kehl is crowded, including the actual place where the tents are pitched. Thankfully, we had reserved a spot. After setting up our tents, we walk to downtown Kehl (2 km). We have a royal feast at McDonald's, where I have time to write and send out this report.
Tomorrow we will continue to Bad Bellingen.
