04.07.2022, 16. day, 32 / 1177 km, Bad Säckingen 2

Thunderstorms and heavy rain persevered through the night. Klaus' tent is not waterproof; the sleeping bag is wet. But anyway he does not want to use this tent in the future anymore.
It is still raining when we leave and have breakfast at the same place as 12 days ago. But then it stops and the sun comes out. The wet streets are steaming in the warm sunshine. It is as if we are riding through a totally different environment, that is how much the sunshine changes it. It is wonderful to ride in comfortable temperatures in the fresh morning air. Even the steep but short uphill slopes we remember from last time cannot change that.
After 30km we get to the hotel, and for Klaus this is the end of the bike trip. Tomorrow he will take the train to his next destination.
We enjoy an ice cream during a short trip to downtown Bad Säckingen and spend the rest of the day at the thermal bath where some people still recognize us.
Starting tomorrow I will continue by myself, this time not on the same route as on the way there.

The road is steaming

Everything fresh after the rain

In the sunshine the area looks much more beautiful than 12 days earlier

Meanwhile the grain is harvested

And again we are at the Rhine River

The first blackberries are ripe and taste great

End of the journey for Klaus
